Like most expecting mothers, I’ve been counting down the days until the emergence of our new little one. My hospital bags have been packed for nearly two weeks now, all our little one’s clothes and blankets have been carefully laundered and folded neatly in drawers we have had set aside. Our “master” bedroom has been morphed into a nursery that just happens to be where David and I sleep too, yet we still aren’t quite there yet!
For those of you who were hoping for cute baby pictures and maybe a TMI style birth story, I am totally willing to oblige! However, today is my due date and baby is still firmly tucked away in my uterus, waiting to make a grand entrance on whatever arbitrary day they choose, so the TMI style birth story may just have to wait a little longer.
On the plus side, our little one making a late appearance has been good for finishing up the move from our old little house to the new, and the new little house is just about finished (at least in regards to unpacking and sorting, etc). As many of you know, we moved specifically to be closer to JJ’s school, and although the new little house is just as small, old, and cramped as the previous one, we are surrounded by beautiful parkland, a playground, and a giant oval (sports field thingy) that make being squished into a tiny unit much more bearable.
JJ absolutely loves having the big park near. He hasn’t had a backyard to play in for about two years now, which has been a constant source of sadness and frustration in our home. Although living near a park is far from our dream of providing a better quality of life (backyard and all) for our children, it’s what we have to work with right now, and the boys have been having a blast with it. JJ thinks the park is awesome, but the random dogs running loose at the park make everything even better.
I still find it so hard to believe that JJ has grown so very much, but we are just so grateful that cuddles are still the very best.
In Australia, we begin new school class years after summer break in January, so after a long sun and moving house filled holiday, our little munchkin started back at school this week past. He is now a very grown up Grade 3 kid! We are so proud of the feedback that we’ve received so far from his teachers, and the enthusiasm and joy that he has been expressing as he begins a new school year. I’m so stoked that my little boy so loves to learn, read, and experience the world in all its beauty.
Okay, I know hormones are making me sappier than usual, but I just love my boys so much. Sometimes I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
